What is speech therapy?

Speech therapy is the practice of assessing and treating communication, speech, feeding, and swallowing disorders.

A speech pathologist is able to assess and treat a variety of speech and language problems as well as assist in feeding and swallowing therapy. An SLP will develop a plan of care to ensure a patient has adequate techniques and practices to overcome issues caused by disorders or other communication hindrances.

Anyone with any sort of speech, communication, language, or feeding/swallowing delay would benefit from Speech Therapy. We also help with children who are nonverbal to help them learn effective ways of communication.

Our Process

Our kids will begin with an initial evaluation to assess their communication abilities and discuss potential plans of care with caregivers. Our evaluating therapist will establish goals that will be executed by our treating therapist at least 2 times a week for 30 minutes a visit. Over time, goals are moved, met, and adjusted to fit the plan of care and the needs of every individual child. Some children stay in speech long-term, while others will graduate out of therapy once their goals are accomplished.

We Adapted For Your Safety

Our office has utilized the practice of teletherapy in a way like never before with this Pandemic. We have found new ways of communication and have overcome the challenges of being in a home health industry in a time when home health is hard to do. Our therapists have taken to wearing masks and practicing CDC guidelines like they have been doing it for their whole lives, and we are so grateful for their passion for Speak and their careers/relationships with these children that have driven them through all of it.
